Shawn:

I downloaded and was trying to install the new version (Aug 5, 04), when After asking me for the normal information for installation and going into the copying files section the following message came up:

General file transfer error. Please check target location and try again.
Error Number 2.
Filename:C:\windows\temp\RARSFX4\_Setup.1

Thanks

That is strange. I have tried this on 5 machines now and its worked every time. The self extractor must be deleting the setup files before the installation is complete. What OS are you running?

Try right clicking on the download file and see if there is an option in the popup window that says "Extract to ..."

If there is then use this to extract all the setup files manually and then run setup.exe to install.

Download this zip file. Extract it using any zip utility and use the setup.exe program to install

I tried both ways listed below and I still can't install it. I click on the setup.exe and it does nothing. Is there something that I need to change as far as settings in XP. HELP! I would really like to use this program.

So you manually extracted the files and then ran setup? I can not see any reason why this would not work. I would try shuting down your computer and re-starting. Install the program before you run any other programs.

If this does not work try installing it as an administrator if you are not logged on as one.

I tried to run again and all it does is change from arrow to an arrow with the hourglass for a half second and then nothing. It will not launch the install shield program.
